Backed against natural forest, the home of deer, raccoons and quail, the estate is fronted by lush perennial English gardens and spill from Victorian guest rooms to a bluff standing over the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Below the cliff, whales play; overhead, eagles wheel; and in the distance, Vancouver Island rises above the sea mist.
The Gardens have been featured in Garden Design magazine and were originally conceived and laid out by BJ and Frank Patton in 1998 when the inn was called BJ's Garden Gate. The gardens are shared with approximately 2,000 guests each year and feature over 10,000 plants of about 200 different species. This truly is an amazing perennial garden that has blooms to satisfy anyone all year round!
