Port Angeles & Sequim Bed and Breakfast
Oceanfront Lodging on Washington's Olympic Peninsula

Sunny Sequim

January 31st, 2011

After a few days of fog and clouds and rain, humans weren’t the only ones deliriously happy to see the sunshine return to our normally blue-skied patch of the Olympic Peninsula.  Hundreds of birds danced and swirled and glided  in the crisp dawn air.  Two playful bald eagles caught my eye as they swooped and looped in and out of each others’ circles–a preview of the antics we’ll see during their mating season, which in Western Washington State begins in February.

Last year during mating season I watched six bald eagles land in one of the tall cedars by the entrance of our bed and breakfast.  How the eagles managed that feat with their enormous wing span–without whacking each other in the head–remains a mystery to me.  ~Bonnie
